A friend of mine forgot his password.
I let him know of a simple way to remember passwords regardless of what it is for. Also, don’t use the same password for multiple websites, it makes hacking too easy.
To come up with an almost unbreakable password, the first thing is to think of a phrase or sentence, i.e., Superman Is Strong. The next step is to figure out a short identifier that is easy to remember for the place you need the password. For example, Netflix = NET. Then put the two things together, sprinkling numbers instead of letters, capital/lower-case letters and throwing a comma or two in there.
5Up3rManIs5trong,NET,
The first part (depending on where you put the ,NET,) stays the same, the second part changes to match what website you are on.
If you need to update your passwords, add another comma, letter, symbol, number, etc.
According to the chart below, by using brute force (computer guessing your password) would take about 26 trillion years with current technology. The sun will gobble us up long before then. Suppose someone steals your password along with thousands of others? If it winds up in a spreadsheet, the commas may cause a problem. 😉Â
